Susan was born at the old Charing Cross Hospital in London. For the first five years of her life, the family lived in St Anne’s Flats, Somers Town.
The family has called Somers Town home for over 170 years.

When Susan and her brother discovered the notebooks, they decided to transcribe them as a reminder for future generations of the family, capturing what life was like during this period in history.
Tragically, just nine months after their mother passed away, Susan’s brother Michael also died. Determined to honor both her mother and brother, Susan chose to continue working on the book.

Susan shares, “We are truly lucky that our Mum decided to record her stories. They have brought us immense joy, sparked countless new friendships, and even led to the discovery of cousins I never knew existed!”
Susan had the honor of delivering a talk at The People’s Museum in Somers Town and has now been invited to speak at John Laing, the company where her mother once worked.
