Memory Lane

Welcome to Memory Lane – a special place to share your cherished memories and stories of Somers Town

This is a place to share your own memories of Somers Town

Our memories celebrate the lives that once flourished here—the joys, the struggles, and the resilience that forged our community. Together, we can build a living archive to inspire generations to come.

To inspire you to share your own memories and photos, I’ve started by sharing one of my own. I look forward to seeing and hearing yours soon.

This is a photo taken around 1945 of my Nanny Stopps leaning out of her window at 3 St Mary’s Flats. When Edith Neville Cottages were built, the family moved over to number one. I have wonderful memories of my childhood Christmases here with my Nan, Mum and Dad, eight uncles and aunts and my many cousins

My dad was born in1925, when the family lived at 29 Melton Street, where the living conditions were extremely poor.

Please click <<here>> to use the contact form to share your story or memory. If you’d like to include a photo, mention it in your message, and we will provide a secure email address for you to send it privately.
