A place for your memories, stories and photographs
Our memories honour the lives that once thrived here—the joys, the challenges, and the strength that shaped our community. Together, we can create a living archive to inspire future generations.
Before the family moved to St Mary’s Flats, they lived at 29 Melton Street, where my dad was born in 1925, and the living conditions were extremely poor.
To inspire you to share your own memories and photos, I’ve begun by sharing one of mine. I can’t wait to see and hear yours soon.

This photo, taken around 1945, shows my Nanny Stopps, leaning out of her window at 3 St Mary’s Flats.
When Edith Neville Cottages were built, the family moved across to number one.
I have cherished memories of childhood Christmases spent here with my Nan, Mum, Dad, brother, eight uncles and aunts, and many cousins.
